Loyola Marymount University, Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, offering a BA degree in Theatre Arts and a BA degree in Dance, invites applications for a Clinical position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The position will begin in the Fall Semester, 2017.

The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance is a co-governed department granting separate degrees in Theatre Arts and Dance. Theatre Arts and Dance share performance facilities and production faculty and staff. Design and implementation of curricular and co-curricular goals reside, for the most part, within the individual Programs. The Department is strongly committed to the Mission of the University and has a special concern for issues of social justice and the dialogue between faith, culture, and the arts.

The Department serves a diverse population of students. The Theatre Arts Program serves over 160 majors, as well as Theatre Arts minors, and the general student population. Students and faculty come from increasingly diverse backgrounds: ethnic, socio-economic, sexual orientation, and age, among others. The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance is committed to enhancing diversity and creating an inclusive learning and working environment.

Required qualifications include:

- MFA in Acting/Performance or International equivalent
– Membership in both SAG/AFTRA and AEA
- Experience in teaching acting and/or actor coaching for both live stage performance and film/television

Desired qualifications include:

- Ability to teach various specific skills acting classes according to specialization
- Knowledge of theatrical pedagogies

The position requires the professor to:

(1) Teach courses in acting, performance and, once our graduate program has begun, in acting training and coaching. Possible courses this position might teach include: Acting (all levels) Theories of Acting and Directing Acting Pedagogy / Principles of Teaching Acting Scene Study and Presentation Other specialized acting courses And Mentor undergraduate acting students and graduate Performance Pedagogy students.

(2) Maintain ongoing creative work as an actor/performer. The university places high value on faculty who are able to involve students in their scholarly and creative work.

(3) Engage in service as needed.
