Position Summary:
  • Under the general direction of the Enterprise Applications Academic Systems Manager, and in conjunction with appropriate stakeholders at LMU and external organizations when necessary, this position ensures that systems enable operational and strategic success for the user community. This position is responsible for high-level analysis, programming, interpretation, and professional development related to the specific systems they maintain, support and evolve. Use programming languages to code computer instructions from the specifications.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Analysis and consultation – 30%
  • Consults with appropriate constituents to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, and features to design new procedures or improve existing processes.
  • Elicits, analyzes, defines, and documents user requirements for data workflow and logical processes including interfaces with other systems for the purpose of more efficient operation.
  • Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to use, develop or modify an application.
  • Evaluates requests from users for hardware, software, and problem-solving activities.
  • Maintains communications and positive relations between users and ITS.
  • Presents and provides verbal and written status updates and reports as requested.
  • Technical work/Programming – 60%
  • Conducts technical research and recommends upgrades or development of new information systems to meet current and projected needs.
  • Reviews, implements and upgrades complex systems and processes related to client operations. Understands and follows the ITS change management process.
  • Provides technical support and training to ITS and client staff in the proper use of systems and related products.
  • Develops/Writes code for scripts, programs, integrations between complex systems (commercial, cloud or in-house developed) and reports.
  • Takes a technical leadership role in IT projects or initiatives. – 10%
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7 years’ Enterprise programming knowledge in areas such as Microsoft Dynamics (CRM) and/or, Banner and/or, Lexmark-Perceptive experience highly preferred. Experience with Talend, Apex, Evisions-Argos, PL/SQL or other programming languages desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: relational databases (Oracle expertise preferred), source control (GIT, MS Visual SourceSafe, etc.), change management and problem resolution.
  • Broad understanding of major technology concepts like web certificates, web services, client-server, and/or the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and a customer-service driven attitude. Ability to balance various priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with the business requirements and the lifecycle of a Higher Education institution.
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports, user documentation and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
  • Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
Required Education:
  • Typically a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of technology, regulation and policy changes.
